Well here we are – a fortunate turn of events following some very unfortunate ones for me personally, for my business followed by BOOM! PANDEMIC!! and here we are “Covid-pivoting” into a sweet, sweet new gig.
Sometime back, about half way into what turned out to be a 25+ year career planning some of this regions largest, highest profile events, I decided to get some additional education to support my hobby: bookkeeping. Yes, my hobby – I’m a closet geek who just LOVES spreadsheets, learning and managing all types of software packages and just focusing in on picky little administrative tasks … it’s my version of a crossword puzzle.
Back then, on learning of my interest in this path, a family member invited me to take over managing the books for their dental practice and eventually, the rest of their personal accounting. It was a job I did off the side of my desk: Payroll for a team of combined permanent and temporary staff members which totaled between 20 and 30 come T4 time; Accounts Payable; Production Report design & production that evolved with changing needs of the owners and IT Troubleshooting … just because.
Since then, the group has joined the dentalcorp family of 400+ Canadian Dental Practices and added another clinic to the original (with a few more on the way) so here we are … Pivot complete to a job I love, that has so far survived every phase of the last year & some, which allows me to fully fly my geek flag and work on my own schedule.
In the process of this transition, I’ve amassed more skills in more varied programs and apps (Power Practice/Abel Dent, SAGE/Quicken, Ultipro; Coupa; WhenIWork; JotForm; etc etc etc) and look forward to bring all of this forward to help other dental practice with as much or as little support as they need.
Having said all that about my mastery of various programs and apps, I’m about 10 minutes into learning WordPress so, please do bear with me, stay tuned and do not adjust your set.
